No spooled items for the Southern Girls Challenge... a Christmas card

Good morning! well its challenge time over at the Southern Girls Challenge and this fortnight, the challenge is to not use and spooled items (thats ribbons, twine or cotton) on your projects.  WOW that's a hard ask for me, as I love big bows and gorgeous ribbons .... but I have come up with this Christmas card I hope you like :-).  We have fabulous sponsors this fortnight and I have showcased dies from Marianne design.  I am in envy of the winner of that prize, as I those gorgeous snowflakes would've been perfect for this card LOL!!!!!  Anyway, enough of me sobbing, I have used the following Marianne Design dies:
LR0184 (baubles)
 LR0178 (sleigh)
and LR0176 (trees)

I dont have the reindeer that matches the sleigh, so have used a Sizzix one, but there is definitely a Marianne Design Reindeer die!
I also used the snowflake punch outs from a Martha Stewart edger.

It's a shaker box card, and I have stuck thick card from officeworks between two pieces of acetate so the beads, glitter and silver snowflakes don't get caught among the die cuts.  The silver snowflakes are just tiny bead spacers that people use for jewellery... quite cheap, but effective all the same!  The backing DP is a digi paper from Pink Gem designs.  I have cut three baubles, two the right side of glitter paper (which will get folded in half with the glitter side in the centre), one with the glitter paper flipped over to the wrong side.  Take the two baubles folded in half and place them side by side, and then stick the third bauble over them... the baubles will align perfectly!  then you have a three dimensional bauble :-)  For the third bauble (the one on the top) you can back this prior to cutting with some JAC paper or run it through a sticker maker so it sticks down without the mess of glue.

so pop on over to the Southern Girls Challenge, and show us your creations!

  2. Fab shaker card, Tania! Great use of dies and punch waste! Will have to dig out my sleigh and reindeer dies before long, but we actually have a Summer here in the UK for a change, so they can stay stashed for a little while longer! Lisa x
