goodmorning, thanks for popping by :0) Today I have a quick and easy card. There is no real technical stuff- no colouring, just basic stamping and glue-ing. the beautiful flower is probably the hardest thing- but even that was easy. I cut the material petals using my tim holtz florals die (again LOL!!!!!)...so there are four groups of petals here, each group consists of three petals- two purple shimmer organza type material and one petal cream satin (so esentially you will need 8 organza petals and 4 satin ones- I cut six satin ones as I used one on the bottom to glue onto and one on the top to hide the joins). This fabric is really cheap @ spotlight when its on special!!! I am also selling some of these on my ebay if you dont have the die cutting machine. so with each group of three petals (satin sandwiched between organza) ... lay them piled on top of eachother (offset the petals a little) place a SMALL dob of hot glue in the centre and fold in half. do this to all four sets the bottom may also need a little tack with glue, but I didnt as you tend to get too bulky with the hot glue and flexibility is poor- the bottom will glue when it goes together. I glue my sets onto another extra satin petal but you can just cut a round piece of material. Here's where you need to work fast- fold the petal group again in half- I tend to not fold COMPLETELY I almost fold it over 3/4 so both the inner and outer bunch gets glue on them (so it is now in 1/4) place another SMALL dot of hot glue and press onto the centre of your base petal/circle. the next petal do exactly the same glue-ing opposite (so you get an even spread of petals) then contine with the other two groups... place some bling in the centre and you have your flower!!! I have added some dangles for extra bling- I have also glued a pin to the back so this is actually a gift card not the usual drab cards I generally make LOL!!! (hense the "not a card" label :0) I know I'm dribbling- but I want you to go away knowing that you know :0) please drop me a comment if you need anything clarified. HINT: I have just bought some cabochon settings off ebay they will make it easier to attach my dangles I just need to add a piece of bling to the centre. also dont be limited by rhinestones etc- go to your local cheap jewellery store and buy cheap earrings (just snap/clip the ear piece off) or necklaces with lots charms on them (like those they sell for little girls) - not only can you use the chain, but the charms make a perfect centre!!! sorry forgot to add that I used another satin flower over the top- normally if I had a big centre that would be enough to hide the centre joins, but as I had small rhinestones, the extra flower just cleans it up a little |
