Challenge time at Southern Girls with delicious doodles

Good evening! well it sure has been hot hot hot here in Queensland, with record temps for the month of december... we have suffered 38 degree celcius heat so was a good time to be indoors crafting :-) Its challenge time again over at The Southern Girls Challenge and this fortnight we are celebrating Summer. I know most of our neighbours are coming into winter, but here in Oz and NZ we are heading for summer, and its gonna be a hot one this year!!!

Once again we have the wonderful Delicious Doodles and The Paper Shelter sponsoring us, and I have chosen Lovey Dovey Sihoulette by Delicious Doodles.  I tried something very different for me, and that was brayering!  I brayered the paper prior to printing, tried a couple of times and after a few attempts, this is the end result.  I like the summery feel this card has, and my husband actually commented how nice it was! (he usually likes them, but only after I ask his opinion- but this time, he just come out and said that he liked it :0).  I used some random flower paper from my scrap box, some organza ribbon and a couple of mulberry flowers.  I finished it off with some orange rhinestones from my stash.

so pop on over to The Southern Girls Challenge and show us your summer creations (for those in colder climates, it might make you feel warm and cozy LOL!!!!) AND WHY NOT CHECK OUT ALL OF THE WONDER CARDS BY THE DESIGN TEAM FOR INSPIRATION!

advent christmas countdown desk top calendar using my zutter

Hello thanks for dropping by. Nice easy post, just wanted to share another of my calenders- this time a countdown calendar similar to my advent calendar I did in August. See the paper on the flip cards??? I won it over at Bevs site (I felt like I won lotto!!).  The prize was donated by the super talented Mindy from Stampin Mindy.  She sells her digi paper on etsy and for my free set, I chose country Christmas... but I am going to buy more because they are so divine!  I have done some cards, but haven't taken pics of them, so will try and get them uploaded :-)

So.... I think I have sorted to storage problem.  Yes, I have deleted some duplicate pics I had in picasa, but didn't want to delete them as they would delete them from my blog.....so.... I have downloaded google drive (a link on top  of my picasa albums) I sync'd it to my other albums- gives me 5GB of free storage so we'll see how that works- will probably still have to play around a little....BUT if you have an easier way PLEASE let me know (especially for those who have had blogs for a couple of years with lots of pics)

Thanks for stopping by, Stay safe XOX Tania

I need your help with picasa storage

Hi There! I was hoping for some help- I am trying to upload pics to my blog, but it keeps saying I am up to my storage quota...and that I have to pay a monthly fee for extra storage from Picasa? Has anyone struck this problem, and is there a way of not paying money??? PLEASE HELP!!

Mo Manning's Fairy Kiki

Good afternoon, I have another of Mo's digi images for my card today- this little one is fairy Kiki.  Coloured with copics, and spashed with a good dose of glitter- I think it is adorable. I love this image because it works so well as a boy or girl card.  I have done a seashell theme for this card- I have recycled the shells and silver starfish from wedding table decorations- waste not want not LOL!!!.  I have used some DMC thread for the bow as it is all I have in the wass of twine :0) works well I think though.  The corner die cut is a Susanas Custom art and Card die.  Paper is from a Prima pad called Craftsman..  Some flattened silver bead caps and rhinestones finish it off.

Listed on ebay

I would like to enter into the following challenges:
Fussy and Fancy: Feeling Blue
Charisma Cardz: Cool Colours

Mo Manning Baby Fairy Flora plus tutorial on folding the card

Good morning.. sorry I have not made a post seems like forever!!! I have been shopping over at Mo's Digital Pencil and just had to buy this adorable little baby... isn't she cute?? She is called Baby Fairy Flora and you can get the digi version  here  OMG I love these images (I bought a few- so stay tuned!!).  I have done a different card, one I saw on a google search and then went and made my own dimensions.  I have used paper from Paper inklings, dies from cheery Lynn and Susanas Custom Art and Card.  I have flattened bead caps and glued dew drops onto them.
I have put this card on ebay along with some other stuff :-)

I will put directions with cutting and scoring dimensions of this card below if your interested.
I would like to enter this card into the following challenges:
Papertake Weekly: Flower Power
One Stitch at a Time: Use a Digi
Divas By Design: Anything Goes
CMC Copic Challenge Group: All about Kids

So to fold this card, you will need a piece of cardstock 15cm X 25cm.  I find cutting the card first helps.  You are going to make two cuts.  each horizontal cut is going to be 5cm apart from each other.  The first cut is going to be 5cm from the top.... start cutting 5cm in from the edge.  cut 10cm long.  The second cut is going to be 5cm below that cut, only cutting from 10cm from the edge of the card again cutting 10cm long.
You are going to score vertically.  In the top section you will score at 5cm scoring down to the start of the first cut, then score at 10cm, scoring from the top of the card and down to the start of the second cut (you will be scoring through the first cut).  Then score from the end of the first cut (this will be 15cm in- you can see why I find cutting first is easier!) down to the bottom of the card. Finally scoring from the end of the second cut down to the bottom of the card.
Use your bone folder to get crisp folds :0)
Hope this makes sense.

Til next time, Stay safe XOX Tania

delicious doodles red cardinal- southern girls xmas challenge time

Good morning! Well its a new challenge over at Southern Girls Challenge, and this fortnight we want to see Christmas projects.... easy peasy!!! Christmas will be here in no time, so why not take the opportunity to get those chrissy cards done and have the chance to win some awesome digis from Delicious Doodles- like this little cutie I have used for my card today.  She is called Red Cardinal, and colours up beautifully.

I have used a couple of different dies for this card- spellbinders ornate square die,
frostyville border die from memory box, Tim Holtz tattered florals die (for the red flower), and magnolia dookhickey christmas tree die. The holly paper is from a VERY OLD sheet- has no printing on the back so dont know the maker :0( I have used roses and hip rosebuds form WOC. I have glued three black pearls in the centre of the Tim Holtz flowers and glued some rhinestones onto bead caps that I flattened a bit.  The sparkly ribbon was from a gift years ago that I hoarded LOL!!

I would like to enter in to the following challenges:

Whimsy stamps Birdie Friend by Chrissy Book Card

The devastation that is happening over in the USA is just mind boggling.  My thoughts and prayers are with everyone suffering at the hands of Sandy.  It will be a tough long road ahead, but stick together, unite as one, and you will get through it.  I wish I was closer so I could come help clean up. XOX Tania

Good morning! thanks for stopping by.  I am on a bit of a roll with my paper piecing  the last couple of days. I am having a stall at a local school fair, and have been trying to get as much done as I can.  Its nice to be able to offer things you cant get in the stores.  It is a shame I buy my things at retail price, as I would love to be able to sell these cheaper... as with any craft though, you dont get paid for the time and effort you put in... I do it because I love seeing people love getting my stuff and appreciate the work that goes into these pieces.

Anywho, onto my card.  Love the image??? I got it the other day from Whimsy Stamps.  She is called Birdie Friend by Chrissy. I have again used Mariskas technique of paper piecing... and boy this one took me ages... even down to the little ear is layered! But I am REALLY happy with the end result. The box is using Tinas tutorial here.

The angle shot:

OK, so, I have used paper from Prima "Romance Novel"pad and "Grandmother" from paper inklings.  I got a new die set at Arnolds Rothwell... from Heartfelt Creations called Layered elegant swirl... most of the doily is covered, but it is rather pretty in full.  The butterflies are cut with a Tim Holtz die- Flutterby.  Flowers are of course WOC. The charm is from a cheap necklace from a kids jewellery store.  Lace and oragnza ribbon from my stash.

This is a little photo pull out I made to put in the box:

I would like to enter in the following challenges:
Whimsy Inspires: all things sparkly
Wild Orchid Challenge: Bling it up
Creative Card Crew: fancy folds (hopefully the folded interior that makes the box can be counted)

Hanglar StAnglar book cards

Hi there! I have been playing today, and found this awesome tutorial for this book box... I have been cutting frames out of white chipboard... until I found this tutorial.  It is done by the lovely Tina so drop over and take a look.  It is perfect to put chocolates or money, I even thought a baby box would be perfect for a pair of booties!
I have also taken the tutorial from Mariska who put up a video on Wiff of Joy blog about how to 3D paper piece... she is one talented lady let me tell you... and she paper pieces every one of her cards!!! thats dedication! My paper piecing isnt quiet to Mariska's standard, but I really enjoyed doing these pieces.... I would probably only paper piece my OTP and 3D projects not my cards, just because of the amount of time it consumes... but it sure is fun and looks great in real person.  The image I have used for both of these boxes is a Hanglar image- not ure of its name, but she is so cute!

Pics trying to show off the dimension to the coloured image

So..... the papers are paper inklings, and a random stripe piece from my off cuts.  Flowers are WOC.  The corner element is Cheery Lynn's Deco Doily corner die.

Redonkulous wedding card

 sketchnstash

Good afternoon thanks for stopping by :0) I have a couple of wedding cards to share tonight, its seems to be the season for nuptials lately.  This is Redonkulous design called wedding couple.  the sentiment is a whimsy stamp and is cut using a circle / scallop nestie.  I tried something a little different with the girl... trying a bit darker skin... it looks ok, but I will definately have to invest in appropriate copic colours thats for sure!  I hand glued each individual pearl on for the swirl, and used bead caps flor the little silver flowers- topped with a pearl. both from my stash. Lace is also from my stash that I get from Arnolds at Rothwell.

I followed the sketch over sketch and stash.  The papers I used are digi papers from Nitwits- they have some gorgeous new designs out- so pop over and have a look.  I got a new corner die from ebay by Cheery Lynn called Deco Lace Corner die- isnt it cute?! Flowers are of course WOC.

I would like to entrer in to the following challenges:

Elisabeth Bell for Belles and Whistles Sisters

Good evening, Thanks for stopping by.  I got another parcel from teh Belles and Whistles closing down sale, so sorry, but you're going to get bombarded with these gorgeous images!  This one is called Sisters.  I think I need to add some bling to the top right corner, I need to sleep on the idea LOL!! Lots of pink going on here for the Copic Oz challenge... enter now because they will donate $5 for every card entry to the McGrath foundation how generous is that!!!!! I also decided for a change to do an easel card, thinking a twist easel card would be something a little different.... that's what I love about Challenge blogs... its not the prizes so much, but they make me do something I wouldn't ordinarily do or use colours I wouldn't ordinarily use.... only to find out that I LOVE the end result and find myself using those techniques more often than not :-)

Onto the card.... Papers are from Prima pad called Rondelle (my fav!!) I have cut the image using circle spellbinder and matted that with the scalloped circle nestie.  I have used flowers from WOC.  ribbon and lace from stash.  Stitching is by hand using DMC cross stitching thread.  I have made my own hat pin (metal for CRAFT challenge) and made those cute little rhinestone/pearl sprays..... I simply cut bits of fishing line glued rhinestones/pearls on to the line (with super tacky glue) and clipped the two ends together with a silver crimp (left over from my jewellery making days..... you could also use tiger wire to the same effect).  Here is a close up picture of the sprays:

I would like to enter in to the folowing challenges:
Copic Oz: Pink
C.R.A.F.T Challenge: Use metal on your card
Anything Goes Challenge: Make your own embellishment

I've been asked to list the colours I use...so here goes...

(I use the tip to tip technique to blend colours... using the lighter colour to touch the darker colour, then colour with the lighter pen... I also dont recap while I am colouring.... I hold the group of pens I am using at the time in my left hand, colouring with my right, so the ink on the paper doesn't dry out too quickly... something Suzanne Dean taught me watching her you tube videos)

Skin: YR0000, E00, YR01 (cheeks) and R20 (blush)
Pinks: RV34 and RV81
 Blues: BG0000, BG01, BG05 and B000 (for the outside of the image-shading)
Grass: G05, G08 and G82
Bangles: Y18
Oranges: YR00, YR12 and YR15
Hair: E33, E40, E50 and E57
I also use N0 to darken my creases on the pants and tops

Thanks for stopping by, cant wait to hear what you all think about my card. Stay Safe XOX Tania

Hello!! another card for tonight.. I'm on a roll... and there are some challenges that will finish during the night here in Oz.  So thought I should get my skates on!!! This little cutie is from Belles and Whistles, whose store unfortunately is closing down but now have 50% off the remaining stamps.. so check it out!! This little one is called lilypad dreams and is still available! she is simply adorable!  I have cased a sketch by Patricia over at Creative Inspirations.  Papers I have used are: Hippity Hoppity (Easter things) and  Baby Mine (sugar and spice) by We are Memory Keepers and Lemon Breeze (vanilla sunshine collection) by Sei paper. Over at the Ribbon Girls, their challenge is orange, a colur I dont often use, so it sure was a challenge... even to the point that I had to go and buy orange copics!!!, I like the end result :0). I coloured the lace with my copic marker, and the black lace edge is icut using my Martha Stewart edge punch called doily lace... I snipped each scallop and then the centre of each scallop, before twisting around my alligator tweezers.... I like the 3D effect it gives. Flowers are WOC (I coloured up white flowers yellow  and orange with glimmer mist), three pearls and three rhinestones from stash to meet the challenge over at Creative Craft Challenges who are celebrating their third birthday HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!
