Top Tip Tuesday Guest Designer male card Spitfire Delicious Doodles

Good morning! Thanks for stopping by.  I was lucky to be picked as Top Tipper over at Top Tip Tuesday a few weeks ago, and was asked to be guest designer for their challenge this week.  The challenge is to use metal faux or real! So I have used some metal charms and wait for it... I have a done a male card. I KNOW! shock horror lol!!! I have used "spitfire" from Delicious Doodles, and didnt have to colour it at all- super simple!  The sentiment is a combination using a Popcorn bear sentiment and a Whimsy notables 2 outer frame stamp and cut with the notables 2 die. I used DP from two Prima pads- called "Cartographer"  and "engraver".  Die cuts are using magnolia swirl die, Cheery Lynn Gears die and Heartfelt Creations Layered Elegant Swirl die.  The charms are from Nini's Things on facebook.

Here's my top tip for the challenge: When distressing edges of your cardstock, ink the edges and distress whilst still wet.  Place the edge of what you are going to distress onto your table leaving about 1cm hanging over the edge of your table. Working from the centre of your cardstock and out to the corner, distress using your distressing tool. This way, your corners stay intact, and your paper will not get creases in it. The slight wetness left by the ink helps it “puff”up.

So now its your turn.... Pop over to Top Tip Tuesday and show us your metal! and while you're there, why not leave a tip to help us all craft a little easier and you could be the next Guest Designer?!

some various swing cards

Hi there! This is a quick post, basically because these cards are quick to make.  There is no colouring involved, but the embellishments make the cards exquisite.  I thought I would post them just purely to give you some ideas on different things that you can put on your cards.  I alter a lot of things, like cutting the ring off charms (as seen with the dinosaur in the pebbles near the fence) or the back notch of buttons and the split pins off brads. I hope you can find some ideas here.  By inking the edge of  straight cuts and using some frantage or different coloured embossing powders you can transform a simple card topper with a saying.

popcorn the Bear Fishing for Dad

Hi There. Its been such a long time since I have posted a card here... I've had my hands all little full :-) I managed to get quiet a few cards done before Amelia was born, so will try and get them uploaded as quick as I can.  Some may not have the colours or DP companies, but I hope they will give you some inspiration and ideas for some of your cards.

This one is one I did for Fathers day.  It is a Popcorn the Bear stamp of a bear and a duck fishing.  It is an adorable image, and you can have fun colouring wood grains and bear fur.  now, you all know how much I struggle with boys cards, but I had so much fun with this one!  I did it as a swing card, and used lots of old stuff I've had for ages from my scrapbooking days!  So, the shells, starfish and glass starfish all are seconhand from a cousins wedding table decorations! Yep, recycling at its best!  The fish are brads are leftovers I used on our honeymoon scrap page (we were married in 2003!) and the metal tiles were in my stash as well.  I used some gold pebble sand that I dont know where it came from years ago, and I have splashed around some dew drops in the water.

Penny Black Fly Away

Hello! another boy card (I know its shocked me too- I never do boy cards!!) This time I have used an old favourite of mine- Penny Black's "Fly Away". He is super cute with his little puppy and aeroplane :0)  The paper is perfect for this image to- its from a bo bunny paper stack called On the Go.  I have raided my stash for the metal charm, brads and star eyelet to fit in with the challenge over at Penny Black's Saturday challenge calling for us to use metal.  I have used some of my cross stitching yarn as I REALLY need to buy some of that fabulous Divine Twine I have seen around, but need to source it from somewhere :0( I dont like that we are behind with some things in Australia (although it is MUCH better than it was just five years ago!!!) If anyone can let me know where I can get it here in Oz that doesn't cost an arm and a leg I'd appreciate it :0)

I would like to enter in the following challenges:

school fete cards for children to make

good morning! well I must apologise for the lack of posts I have done of late....I promise I haven't been neglecting my card making :0) My children's school is celebrating 20 years with a huge fete, and not only am I treasurer of the committee, I volunteered to supply the prep/1's with enough cards to make for a stall they can man....crazy huh??? these are a start. I have cut/designed each card keeping in mind that 5-6 year olds will be putting them together. But, they are coming up really nice! I figure if they can get $2 each card, they can make about $1000 for the school (yep- I am making about 500 cards all up!). the cookie monster and elmo are punch outs I found the idea on you tube the car and space ship/astronaut are cut using my cricut (YAY! after 2 years of sitting there looking at me, I have finally been brave enough to use it!) I hope the kids will like making their cards.....I have only done 90 so far, so have a long way to go, but the fete is in september so I have some time up my sleeves. Well I best get to it then- they're not going to make themselves LOL!!! Thanks for stopping by Take care XOX Tania

male card old truck digi stamp

Hello again!!! now I have my grand nesties I am going to bore you to death with circular cards LOL!!! heres another:0) I took on the huge challenge (for me at least) of doing a male / father card. I found this awesome digi stamp from Fred she said and the good thing is that it is available coloured or plain (is that showing my laziness or what????) this is the blue coloured one. I bought lots of other digi's too :0) The rub on sentiment is from Kaisercraft. brads- Kaisercraft, paper is authentique- "stroll" and "explore". 'Til next time take care. XOX Tania

Hero Arts Monster Fun Birthday Card

Good morning! I thought I'd share a little card I made for my nephews birthday earlier this year. I find it hard to do boys cards, so when I came across this set of Hero Arts "monster fun" stamps at a craft show I knew I had to get them.  The monster in the image has two eyes stamped but I managed to find a large enough boggly eye to cover them up.  the purple brads are ric rac brads purchased in my scrapooking days. A short and sweet post, thanks for stopping by XOX Tania

I am entering this into the Southern Girls Challenge who are after boys/mens cards

Monday, March 21, 2011

this is one for the boys...I always find male cards the hardest...I mean you can do simple ones, but when you are putting flowers and ribbons on girls cards, you want to make the boys just as loved!! this is an easel card with a bit of a difference. the robots are from a sheet of chipboard elements by My Minds eye "lil robots" I got these from my LSS a long time ago and have finally put them to use.  I got boggly eyes to make them that much cuter! Birthday boy is from a daisy and dandelion set  and monster hugs i think are from a set from inkadinkado.

I made a box and stuck it to the front of the card for jellybeans or smarties or whatever really.

POP UP SENTIMENT CARDS popcorn the bear

image is from crafters companion POPCORN THE BEAR

These pop up sentiments are hand cut from computer generated words. They can be quiet tricky, but once you do your first one you can do any word! the top and bottom of the letters remain attached to the insert and the words pop up. very cost effective, but a lovely effect all the same :0)
